What I do & how I can help you
Myotherapy is all about assessing, treating and managing musculoskeletal conditions — basically, anything to do with how your muscles, joints and connective tissue feel and function. Every treatment is tailored to you and I’ll often send you home with some simple exercises to keep the good work going between sessions.
The benefits of massage therapy
Massage therapy is so much more than just relaxation. Regular treatment offers a wide range of holistic health benefits — from reducing muscle stiffness, joint aches and tension, to lowering blood toxin levels and soothing the nervous system.
If you spend your day sitting at a desk or in front of a computer, your body is working harder than you think. We simply weren’t designed to sit still for hours on end — and over time, necks and shoulders stiffen, muscles ache and joints seize up. Regular massage can make a real difference to how you feel day to day.
Research also shows that cancer patients who receive regular massage experience meaningful relief from anxiety, emotional distress, sleeplessness, nausea and pain. For anyone recovering from surgery, massage can help reduce swelling, break down adhesions and stimulate the body’s natural healing process — including lessening scar tissue over time.
Beyond that, regular massage therapy can help you:
- Relieve pain and prevent or correct dysfunction
- Lower blood pressure and release feel-good endorphins
- Boost your immune system through increased lymphatic flow
- Increase energy and reduce fatigue
- Improve concentration and mental clarity
- Align your posture and improve your complexion and skin tone
- Encourage joint mobility, body flexibility and a greater range of motion
- Ease the symptoms of a toxic or high-stress environment
Conditions I work with
I treat a wide range of issues, including neck and back pain, tension headaches, joint and muscle pain, numbness and tingling, postural problems, repetitive strain injuries, arthritis, stress and anxiety, pelvic floor and core strength concerns and sports-related injuries. I also offer a wellness program specifically for pregnancy — because growing a baby is hard work!
The techniques I use
Remedial Massage — A targeted, therapeutic approach to releasing tight and troubled soft tissue. It’s not just relaxation — it’s treatment with a purpose.
Postural Correction — We look at how your body has adapted over the years — the positions you favour, the habits you’ve built up — and work on rebalancing things so you move and feel better.
Trigger Point Therapy — I apply gentle sustained pressure to those stubborn tender spots, then stretch the muscle out. It can feel intense for a moment, but the relief afterwards is well worth it!
Deep Tissue Massage — Deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. Great for getting into those layers of tension that a regular massage doesn’t quite reach.
Myofascial Release — A deeper technique focused on the connective tissue that wraps around your muscles. Perfect for that “stuck” feeling that just won’t budge.
Modern Cupping Therapy — Using soft medical-grade silicone cups, this technique boosts circulation and releases muscle tension. A modern twist on a time-tested therapy.
Myofascial Dry Needling — Using the same fine needles as acupuncture to target and release myofascial trigger points. Don’t let the needles put you off — most clients are surprised by how effective and comfortable it is!
Lymphatic Drainage — A gentle technique that supports your immune system and helps your body clear fluid and toxins. Particularly helpful during pregnancy or if you’re prone to recurring infections.
Pregnancy Massage — Specially adapted techniques for each stage of pregnancy to ease discomfort, reduce tension and support deep relaxation. You and your baby deserve it.
Sports Massage — Whether you’re preparing for an event or recovering from one, I use specialised techniques to get your body ready to perform and bounce back faster.
